Book Responses:

Why Art Cannot Be Taught:

My impressions of the book started with the title. I haven't started reading the anything and I had questions. Why art cannot be taught? but we teach art from generation to generation and it evolves from here. So I started reading, Keeping an opened mind on the whole thing, and in the ended, I was surprised what I had read.  Starting out with the history and it goes through the ages of art. Why things were done and how they were done. It gave me more of an understanding of what happen with painting and drawing was taught. I was surprised on how the masters have grown over the years. During the conversation chapter, it gave me an understanding more of all the arts. The writer thoughts of subjects let me see another view of the arts. See more people's views let you know more of what there is out in the world then what just your own. He talked about subjects I never really thought about thinking of. It opened my mind little more of what happening.

What Photography is:

The title of the book alone, give me a straight answer of what I'm about to read. I like straight forward answers and that is no what I got. He never answered anything straight like I was hoping. He questioned everything and made it so you had to think about the subjects. He wants to you pay attention to the details of everything and make your own suggestion and decisions of the photography. I really was hoping for so his thought and a straight answer on what photography is but instead I got an informational read and a ponder on myself what photography is for myself to self-reflect on.

Gallery visit:

Cincinnati Art Museum:

I went to the Cincinnati Art Museum to see one of their special exhibits; Dressed To Kill, Japanese Arms and Armor. This exhibit was on samurai armor and weapons. Here the katanas were taking apart, the blade was removed from the sheath and the hilt was removed to expose the blade out. The sheath and hilt were put back together with the blade above it. They did this to expose the smith's handy work on the blades. With this also you can see the name of the blade on the handle. The armor was done similarity to the weapon. The armor was on armor stands to hold them up so the viewers to see the armor as if it was on someone.

This exhibit was close to me because of my gaming background. Many games I play use katanas, or similar type of weapons from the era, as the weapons and the armor of a samurai to tell a story. The story gives a small story of the history of the weapon and what happen. With have played through many stories through games, I wanted to see what one of these weapons look like in person. Each samurai blade had a story to go with it and why it got its name. Some of the stories I had on these blades reminded me of the stories I have played through. Over the dozen or so blades I read each reflected into the stories I blade in a form or another. It was nice seeing the real thing in real life for something I use a lot in video games. Gave me a more understanding and real factor for the next time I play one of my video games that use these types of weapons.

End of 607 project

MOTHER NATURE'S CHILDREN

There are millions and millions of different children living on the planet Earth, some human and some animal. The human population has taken over the planet and has been hurting Mother Nature and her animal children. As humans expand on this planet more and more, animal children don’t always have anywhere to go and there is a risk of them going extinct. If this happens, future generations will not get to see all of these creatures first hand. Before animal children start going extinct, I choose to capture them in photographs for future generations to see.
